It’s Summertime and Charleston events are heating up! Check out some of my favorite Summer activities in Charleston this July:
This 4th of July, you could have the best seat in the house! Watch the Fireworks from the middle of the Harbor on the Fireworks Harbor Cruise! This family fun cruise leaves from the Charleston Harbor Marina Dock at 8:30 pm. For ticket information, check out their event page, here.

What’s better than live music with a water view? Head to Party at the Point July 5th at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. This event features various artists and vendors, as well as food and drinks. This event is kid friendly and runs 5:30-8:30 pm. Head out for a Sunday-Funday on King Street July 14th for Second Sunday on King! Enjoy vendors, music and a car-free – King Street. Check the website for more details of the day and a free parking voucher!
Ready to add a new furry friend to the family! Don’t miss Pick Me! SC. Pick Me! SC is South Carolina’s statewide pet adoption event – the 2nd annual largest adoption event in our state’s history! Funded by the amazing Petco Foundation and organized by No Kill South Carolina, an initiative of the Charleston Animal Society. This event is running July 12th at 8 am through July 14th at 5 pm. The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant on July 13th from 10 am – 3 pm is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah people’s history, culture, traditions, and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant and continues to exist in our town and surrounding communities today. Offering free admission, entertainment, and activities, the Sweetgrass Festival also provides an opportunity for local basket makers to showcase, promote and market their sweetgrass merchandise to locals as well as cultural tourists from around the country.
Magnolia Plantation & Gardens invites Lowcountry families to participate in our 6th Annual Ladybug Release! On Saturday, July 20th, 200,000 ladybugs will be released in the gardens in an effort to help control other small, more harmful insects such as aphids and scale insects. The event will be held from 9am-2pm and the distribution of ladybugs will begin at approximately 10 am with the arrival of a Volkswagen Beetle resembling a gigantic ladybug. Hundreds of children will then scatter throughout the gardens to find the perfect spot to release their share of ladybugs. On July 26th get ready for the return of one of the most popular cocktail events in the Holy City in 2017. Back and bigger than ever, this sellout event will feature delicious margaritas to sample, great food, beer, music and a fantastic waterfront setting at downtown’s Brittlebank Park.
