October is a fun time of year in the Lowcountry. The temperature drops just a tad and fall and Halloween festivals are in full force. There are fun family events all throughout the month. Check out some of my favorites here:

Ready to be spooked? Boone Hall Fright Nights is back open! This event is sure to make for a hair raising experience with 3 spooktacular events in one! This one may not be suitable for young kiddos. For more information check out: https://boonehallfrightnights.com/

For those wanting to tour the beautiful historic homes in Charleston, October is your month! It’s time for the 42nd Annual Fall Tour of Homes, History, & Architecture. This event is running October 3rd – November 2nd. For information visit: https://www.preservationsociety.org/falltours/

Paws on the Patio 2019 is happening on October 10th to benefit The Charleston Animal Society. This event is a fun happy hour that includes your four-legged friends! For more details of the event, check the event pagehere.
Lace-up those sneakers for the Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon & 5K happening on October 12th, with the race beginning at 8:30 am at Johns Island County Park. Check https://ccprc.com/1712/Lowcountry-Trail-Half-Marathon-5K for additional information and to register for the event.
Charleston Wine Festivals hosts the first Charleston Fall Wine Festival at the Charleston Harbor Cruise Terminal on Saturday, October 12th from 1 pm-5 pm. Enjoy 50+ wines, mimosas, beer, live music, DJ, and a great indoor/outdoor venue right on the water!
Tickets include entry, all wine, mimosas, & beer samples, a souvenir acrylic wine glass and entertainment; food will cost extra. Check the CVB website for pricing and ticket information.
Head out for a Sunday-Funday on King Street October 13th for Second Sunday on King! Enjoy vendors, music and a car-free – King Street. Check the website for more details of the day and a free parking voucher!
This one is for the kiddos! The 32nd Annual Children’s Day Festival presented by Publix is happening on October 20th. Families will enjoy carnival rides, enormous inflatable slides, live entertainment, wall climbing, face painting, and many other activities! Admission and all activities are free. Free parking is available at Cario Middle School and Charles Pinckney/Laurel Hill – shuttles run all day or simply use the cut-through and enjoy a nice short walk! Food concessions are offered by East Cooper schools for fundraising.
